Sallinguit Hike

Walk in the footsteps of the Inuit’s ancestors. With your guide, you will visit the southernmost part of Sisimiut, a small area called Sallinguit, where, for hundreds of years, Inuit have lived and hunted. The ruins and storytelling will give you a feel for the rich history that Sisimiut is home to. 

The easy hike starts with a short walk from Hotel Søma to Sallinguit. First, you’ll explore the ruins of the old turf huts at the beginning of the hike. The guides will explain how these houses used to house large families. The hike continues to the shore, where old winter storage chambers lie. Finally, the guides will take you past ancient graves, that demonstrate ancient burial traditions.
