This is the most demanding of our tours. We will start from our Sled Dog Center on Sermermiut Aqq, and travel east of Ilulissat to the foot of the hills. We will go upwards towards “Akinnaq Portuneq” which is 350m high. Thereafter we continue further eastwards and after 3 – 4 hours we will reach the northern arm of the Ilulissat Icefiord – named Sikuiutsoq. Underway we will make a short stop at a viewpoint and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea and have some lunch. When we arrive at our tent we will turn on the heater. Depending on the weather and your wishes we could also ride further on and visit the fishing grounds. Afterwards we will return to our tent. We will have a nice warm dinner and relax. If lucky we might see the Northern Lights. You will sleep on a camping bed- with reindeer skin and with our down sleeping backs and double layer Tentipi Tent you will be warm and cosy.
Next morning you will be served breakfast and we will ride further up north as close to the Glacier Sermeq Avannarleq as snow/ice and weather conditions allow us.
We will have some lunch before setting a course back home.
The tour will give you a really good feeling of the power of the sled dogs and also gives you a feeling of what it means riding a dogsled.
Remember weather can be harsh and will require warm clothing. We also strongly recommend you to wear some pack boots to keep your feet warm.
Reasonable fitness required. Please note that we consider dogsledding to be a form of extreme sport and before we start up, we will give you safety instructions and ask you to sign an “Exclusion of liability”. This tour requires that you are in good health and therefore we kindly ask for allowance also to ask some personal questions regarding your health.

Together we have almost 50 years experience of mushing in Greenland. We have driven dog sledge in several parts of Greenland, ranging from Siorapaluk /Qaanaaq in the North to Qasigannguit in the south. We therefore have a great understanding of what it means to be out in nature, and also which different weather and ice conditions there can be in the different areas. It is our vision to give you an outstanding experience of how we feed, treat, train and ride with our dogs. All that, along with your safety and, not least, that of our dogs in mind. Therefore, our dogs, facilities, and equipment will be well taken care of and always kept in good condition.
